welcome to hymn for the living poet II
Dear Readers,
I am elated to present the second installation of Hymn for the Living Poet, a collection that aspires to lift up the messages of living artists as they consider and praise the influence of living poets.
Hymn for the Living Poet is dedicated to being a part of the expansion of spaces where living poets are exalted, not because they have a bibliography of several pages but because they are daring to call themselves a poet today and to suppose a poetry of today. In the work of hosting these two volumes, we have hoped to pronounce a belief in the exaltation of living artists. Indeed, we believe that “the test of time” begins today, with our investment in those asking the hardest questions of now, of those searching the most beauty in now.
In the following pages, you will meet the invested and inspiring work of sterling-elizabeth arcadia, Cassandra Atherton, Gabriella Brand, Laura J, Braverman, Satya Dash, Paul Hetherington, and Nupur Shah in response to the living poetry of Gabriella Bates, Caroline Bird, Anne Carson, Holly Iglesias, Jaida Jones, Jane Monson, Naomi Shihab Nye, nat raum, and Sam Herschel Wein.
I hope you will read on to behold these artists in courageous acceptance of and sincere engagement in the splendoring effluence of the living poet.
Thank you for your witness, your company,
Carrie Chappell
